St. Michael-Albertville Concert Choir

As a flagship organization for the district, the STMA High School Music Program prides itself on excellence and
inclusion for the over 600 students that it serves. The STMA Concert Choir is one of eighteen performing ensembles offered at STMA High School. The eighty member auditioned ensembles rehearses daily for 62 minutes. Recent performance highlights include invitational performances with American Public Media, the American Choral Directors Association and the Minnesota Music Educators Association. STMA has enjoyed collaborative performances with numerous high schools, collegiate ensembles and professional ensembles. The 2019-2020 Concert Season will feature collaborations with André Thomas, Cantus, The Concordia Choir, The Singers – Minnesota Choral Artists, The Twin Ports Choral Project and Voces8.
Brandon Berger is one of two choir directors at St. Michael – Albertville High School. He holds a Bachelor of Music Degree in Vocal Music Education from St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota, which he earned upon graduation in June of 2015. He currently resides in Robbinsdale with his wife, Emma, and their dog, Winnie.
At St. Michael – Albertville High School, Berger directs four curricular ensembles, two co-curricular ensembles and serves as the assistant director of the annual high school musical and as the technical director of the three-act play. Mr. Berger is also the Performing Arts Center Coordinator and serves on the District 885 Equity Team helping to craft and shape the
equity vision of the district for the future. He was previously the music department PLC Facilitator and a coach of two different sports at STMA (Football and Track & Field), having used this opportunity to help bridge the gap between athletics and the fine arts at the school.
Berger is in demand as a composer, arranger, clinician and guest artist and has served in these roles throughout Minnesota, most recently serving as section coach and team lead for the 2019-2020 Minnesota All-State TTBB Choir under the direction of Dr. Michael Culloton. Previously, Berger has served in similar roles, functioning as section coach and team lead in 2018-2019 for Dr. Nicole Lamartine, serving as a co-coordinator of performing choirs for the Fall 2018 State ACDA Conference, and accompanied the 2017-2018 All State Mixed Choir, directed by G. Phillip Shoultz III, as a guest percussionist. Berger is an active member of the American Choral Directors Association, the National Association for Music Education and the Minnesota Music Educators Association where he also sits on the board of directors as a co-editor and has helped to usher in the new digital presence of MMEA through its recent rebranding.
Joseph Osowski is one of two choir directors at St. Michael – Albertville High School. He holds a Masters of Music Degree in Music Education from North Dakota State University and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Vocal Music Education from the same institution.
At St. Michael – Albertville High School, Osowski directs four curricular ensembles, two co-curricular ensembles and serves as the vocal director for the annual high school musical. Mr. Osowski is the conductor of Bring the Sing, a community singing initiative sponsored by Classical Minnesota Public Radio and also serves as choral director at St. Michael Catholic Church in St. Michael, Minnesota.
Previously, Osowski served as Choral Director in the Worthington and
Anoka – Hennepin School Districts. He also has served as Choral Director at Zion Lutheran Church in Anoka, Minnesota, First United Methodist Church in Worthington, MN, Artistic Director of the East Central Minnesota Chorale and the Worthington Chamber Singers. He was a staff member of the René Clausen Choral School.
Osowski is in demand as a guest conductor, clinician and adjudicator. He has served in these roles throughout the Midwest. Osowski is an active member of the Minnesota State High School League, Minnesota Music Educators Association and the American Choral Directors Association, most recently serving as the Northeast District Chair for ACDA-MN.
Joseph Osowski received a nomination as a Minnesota Teacher of the Year Candidate in 2016 by Education Minnesota and was selected for the 2017 International Conductors Exchange Program sponsored by the American Choral Directors Association.
